Police in Hong Kong have detained a total of 310 rioters over the past three days, TASS reported referring to the South China Morning Post.

Youth demonstrators staged protests in shopping centers in the tourist areas of the city. Some of them behaved calmly, others tried to arrange riots. A total of 105 people were detained on Tuesday night during an unauthorized rally near the Wang Chai Police Headquarters.

The head of local administration, Carrie Lam, condemned the actions of the protesters and expressed regret that their selfish behavior overshadowed the Christmas joy.

Mass protests broke out in Hong Kong against the intention of local authorities to pass an extradition bill that would allow extradition of offenders to mainland China. Despite the recall of this legislative initiative, youth opposition supporters continued anti-government protests. They are periodically accompanied by road blockages, violence, arson and acts of vandalism. However, from mid-November, the situation in the city became calmer.
