Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan accused the chair of the Constitutional Court, Hrayr Tovmasyan, of exerting pressure on the judges.

His remarks came on Friday at a meeting with reporters.

According to him, it is noted that the law on early retirement is immoral, thereby putting pressure on judges who would like to take advantage of this.

According to Badasyan, Tovmasyan’s statement that judges will not take advantage of the possibility of early retirement is nothing more than pressure on judges.

"We are not forcing anyone to retire early. But we need the Constitutional Court to be independent not only of the executive branch, but also of political circles, capable of making complex decisions. But the Constitutional Court cannot be the opposition," he said.
