President of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan is being criminally prosecuted under the veil of criminal procedure. This is what Hrayr Tovmasyan’s attorney Amram Makinyan told journalists today.

Makinyan stated that he won’t answer any other question and added that he will answer all legal questions during a press conference.

As reported earlier, representatives of the Special Investigation Service questioned President of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan and brought a charge against him for misusing official powers that negligently caused grave consequences.

At the same time, a protest was being held in the yard of the Constitutional Court, and among the protesters were lawyers and political figures.

Yesterday President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian signed a package of laws on making supplements to the Constitutional Law “On the Constitutional Court” and on making a supplement to the Law “On ensuring, servicing of the activities of and social guarantees for officials”, that is, the package of laws on early retirement of judges of the Constitutional Court. Afterwards, investigators of the Special Investigation Service went to the Constitutional Court, but it wasn’t clear why.
