The US State Department imposed sanctions on Cuban Defense Minister Leopoldo Cintra Frias for alleged human rights violations and support for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Reuters reported.

Earlier, the United States has already introduced restrictive measures against Cuba for human rights violations and Havana's support for the regime of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.

According to a statement by the US Department of Commerce in October, the sanctions imposed would limit Cuba’s access to commercial aircraft by revoking existing licenses for airliners leased to Cuban state-owned companies.

They will also block the possibility of future deals with Havana. In October, the US also expanded its sanctions lists of goods banned for delivery to Cuba, adding goods with US components to them.
