Karabakh is an established independent political unit, Center for Human Development NGO head Tevan Poghosyan told reported referring to the Armenian and Azerbaijani FMs meeting.
Karabakh is not a pancake so that you can get it out of your pocket and give it to someone, he said noting that the Armenian side should take all steps and efforts to properly present Karabakh and the Karabakh problem to the world.
Azerbaijan has long decided on its position and actions, he said.
“They have already decided for themselves that they will solve the problem by force, and talks and various kinds of meetings are just an attempt to stretch the time and, ultimately, achieve their goals,” he said.
According to Poghosyan, the Armenian side should continue to develop its army and increase its combat effectiveness, without looking back at the position of Baku.
Time works for those who work on it, the NGO head said adding that if Armenia and Karabakh do not consider the principle of unity of the two republics and peoples, then there is no point in thinking about any long-term policy.
Poghosyan noted that the question is not about meetings, but about the usefulness and promotion of interests during the meetings.
According to him, on February 9 elections will be held in Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov, because of the tough internal political struggle, is do his best to stay at his post, therefore he makes various statements.
“The Karabakh issue is a generational problem,” he said.
