The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has followed the instructions of the Prosecutor General’s Office and has designated new psychological-psychiatric expert examinations for the Khachaturyan sisters, who are charged with the murder of their father. This is what Alexey Parshin, the attorney of one of the girls, told TASS.

“By sending the criminal case back to the Investigative Committee, in his decision, Deputy Prosecutor General Victor Grin stated that the girls’ act wasn’t qualified correctly and that the correct qualification is necessary protection. After the Investigative Committee appealed the return of the case of the Khachaturyan sisters, before leaving his post, Head of the Prosecutor General’s Office Yuri Chayka denied the appeal to return the case to the Investigative Committee, agreed with Grin’s previous decision, and for purpose of objectivity, ordered to conduct additional psychological-psychiatric expert examinations of the accused-on-trial, taking into consideration all the materials, including those received after conduct of the preliminary expert examinations,” the attorney said.

Earlier, the sisters’ attorneys had informed that the Prosecutor General’s Office has obliged the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation to requalify the Khachaturians’ charge of murder with necessary protection, “which will entail termination of criminal prosecution”.
