The US can lift sanctions against Iran as soon as possible and help it improve the economy if Tehran decides to comply with the requirements previously announced by Washington, said US President Donald Trump in his State of the Union address.

His remarks came speaking on Tuesday evening in front of the Senate and the House of the US Congress with the annual appeal on the situation of the country.

"Because of our powerful sanctions, the Iranian economy is doing very, very poorly.  We can help them make a very good and short-time recovery.  It can all go very quickly, but perhaps they are too proud or too foolish to ask for that help.  We are here.  Let’s see which road they choose.  It is totally up to them," he said.

The US leader once again said that the killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani was a terrorist.
