YEREVAN. – The agricultural insurance pilot program has been introduced in Armenia, and it has several components: early frost insurance, fire insurance, and hail insurance. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at today's Cabinet meeting.

He noted that deadline for early frost insurance expires on February 15.

"At least 50 percent of the villagers' financial expenses are covered by the government, and the frost risk premium will be recompensed by 60 percent," Pashinyan said. "We want to call on the farms to take advantage of these opportunities."

He recalled that there had been cases in the past when relief assistance was provided by the government to farmers affected by hailstorms.

"Relief because it did not cover all the expenses," the prime minister emphasized. “A political decision has been made that the money we have to give to the villagers after the disasters, and even more, we invest in insurance today. (...). This means that if the villagers did not benefit from insurance, we can no longer be able to make a decision and assist those villagers in the future. "

It was also mentioned that agricultural insurance for grapes and apricots is available in Ararat, Armavir, Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor, and Tavush provinces.
