YEREVAN. – Azerbaijanis can settle down in Artsakh, but in order to do so they need to renounce the citizenship of their country, they have to apply to Artsakh’s president and get citizenship according to relevant procedure, adviser to Armenian president said.

Tevan Poghosyan, President of the International Center for Human Development and advisor to the President of Armenia, said the applicants have to write a letter to Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan, collect all papers and pass Armenian language exam.  

“If they complete the procedures, they may obtain citizenship. If a person does this and gets Artsakh citizenship, he can live wherever he wants. Today many citizens of Artsakh live in Armenia,” he explained.

 “When they are trying to speak about Azerbaijani community of Artsakh and present it as a key factor, I just say that they can be called a community as soon as they become a citizen of Artsakh, and go back to Azerbaijan with those passports. They have a passport of an Azerbaijani citizen. What community are we talking about? We have to close this discussion because in the environment of information war Azerbaijan is working on this very intensively,” Poghosyan told reporters.
