Chair of the United Homeland Party Samvel Babayan expressed his party’s position and said that they will support the candidacy of one of the presidential candidates in the national elections in Artsakh set to be held March 31, 2020.

According to party’s statement, a special meeting of the party was held on February 9 in Artsakh under the leadership of the founding chair of the United Homeland Party Samvel Babayan.

During the meeting, discussions were held, and a number of party decisions were adopted, including the issue of candidacy for the post of Artsakh President at the national elections.

Samvel Babayan expressed his party’s position and stated that the candidacy of one of the presidential candidates will be supported at the state elections in Artsakh.

“It is not the interests of this or that state that should be highlighted, but the interests of all Armenians. We urge all political forces to rally around one candidate in the interests of Artsakh’s security,” the party said in a statement.

The statement also notes that within five days the party will take a final position on the issue of choosing a candidate for the Artsakh presidency.
