Secretary of the Prosperous Armenia faction of the National Assembly Arman Abovyan is against the implementation of a “devious scenario” for reconciliation between the Armenians of Artsakh and the Azerbaijanis. According to him, foreign presses are releasing news about offering this reconciliation to the sides.
He stated that when the Serbs of the Former Yugoslavia were forced to leave their homes after the split of Yugoslavia and the war in Kosovo that followed, the European community in the region participated in the creation of certain enclaves where Serbs and Albanians cohabitated. “This will most likely be offered for the Armenians of Artsakh and Azerbaijanis. This means that Armenians and Azerbaijanis will cohabitate in zones to be created in certain territories of Artsakh. I’m strongly against this “methodology” since it definitely won’t lead to any positive outcome and will cause tension, to say the least,” Abovyan explained and added that only after Azerbaijan recognizes Artsakh’s independence will it be possible to consider such an issue.
In her turn, deputy of the ruling My Step faction Tatevik Hayrapetyan declared that Abovyan most likely read this information in “the offices of Shahnazaryan (leading analyst of the Center for Regional Studies Davit Shahnazaryan)”, not in foreign presses since this statement was made and set forth for the first time by Davit Shahnazaryan. Hayrapetyan also declared that the independence of Artsakh can’t be conceded.
