The criminal case regarding former parliamentary speaker Ara Babloyan and former deputy chief of staff of the National Assembly Arsen Babayan has been sent to court, as reported Head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia Arevik Khachatryan today.

The Prosecutor General’s Office had failed to approve the indictment under the case of Ara Babloyan and Arsen Babayand twice and had sent the case to the Special Investigation Service for further investigation, stating that it didn’t agree with the qualification of the act. In particular, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, a charge had to be brought for abuse of official powers, not possession of powers of the Constitutional Court.

The Special Investigation Service changed the charges, and based on the changes, Ara Babloyan and Arsen Babayan were charged with abuse of official powers.
