YEREVAN. – Immediately before its voting, co-author of the bill on energy and Armenia’s ruling My Step alliance MP Artak Manukyan called on his colleagues to vote against this bill. After that, he had to propose that the bill be returned to the first-reading mode for review.

The deputies, following the advice of their colleague, did not approve the bill, and, at Manukyan's suggestion, National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan, in accordance with the NA Rules of Procedure, raised the matter of moving this bill to the phase of submitting written suggestions; this decision was approved by the parliamentarians.

According to its authors, the essence of this bill submitted to parliament lies in the transparency and accountability of public resources. According to this draft law, the information on entities with more than 10 percent shares in Armenia’s electricity generating companies shall become transparent, and an extract shall be prepared containing information on the actual owners of these companies.
