YEREVAN. – All those MPs who think they can come up with a more effective draft than this one and which, at the same time, does not run counter to the Constitution and will present to our judgment, we will accept those proposals. Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan said this in a conversation with reporters today in the National Assembly of Armenia, and referring to the package of amendments to the law on criminal code and related laws.

In response to a remark that an opposition MP noted that the public was waiting for vetting, but the authorities went the other way, and when asked whether the integrity inspection was a softened version of vetting, the minister said: "Vetting, integrity inspection, and many other terms have different meanings in different legal systems, and we have done what we have stated. We have stated that we will take effective measures to fight against corruption, we have taken those effective measures, and have brought [them] to the National Assembly.

A person who has nothing to do with corruption offenses cannot appear in the realm of the exercising of the law, that the interests of the conscientious acquirer are protected; this is a tool against property acquired through corruption.”
