Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan today had a working meeting with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maria Pejcinovic Buric in Strasbourg.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a broad range of issues related to the events taking place in Armenia and the system of human rights protection in Armenia in general. They particularly discussed the judicial and legal reforms in Armenia, the fight against and prevention of torture, human rights protection in the armed forces, the rights of families of servicemen, as well as the rights of women and children, the prevention of violence against them, etc.

The Secretary General attached importance to the cooperation of the Council of Europe with the Human Rights Defender and highly appreciated the role of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia in the improvement of human rights protection and the system of protection of rights in the country.
