On March 2, 2020, there were photos on the Internet showing that residents of Etchmiadzin had organized a NO campaign against the referendum for constitutional amendments at their initiative. Right after this, several presses contacted me, and I gave them clarifications about what had happened and the response of Etchmiadzin Municipality. This is what Mayor of Etchmiadzin Diana Gasparyan wrote on her Facebook page.

“During his speech at the National Assembly today, head of the Bright Armenia faction Edmon Marukyan touched upon this incident and stated that “the mayor of Etchmiadzin says she views this as normal” (citation), while, for instance, in an interview with 168.am, I stated that “I wasn’t pleased with the action, and this is why the municipality immediately responded, and the employees of the relevant division were sent (the employees gave explanations to the citizens and cleaned the premises). Taking into consideration the fact that it is almost impossible to confuse the phrases “view this as normal” and “I wasn't pleased with the action”, the only thing left to do is to state that Mr. Marukyan simply lied from the podium of the National Assembly,” Diana Gasparyan wrote.
