Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan today convened a consultation during which the Strategy for Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises was presented, as reported the news service of the Staff of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister stated that his government has initially formulated the concept paper on the problems with poverty and welfare and stated that the creation of jobs will help solve the problems. “Of course, the first idea arising from this concept paper is linked to small and medium-sized enterprises. During this period, the perception of small and medium-sized enterprises has changed around the world. After undergoing several crises, there were certain reformulations in world economy, and the crises showed that SMEs are more flexible and can show more resistance to economic crises,” the Prime Minister stated, adding that the strategy for development of SMEs is of major significance for future development of the Armenian economy and in terms of implementing the concept paper for the economic revolution in Armenia.

The persons in charge informed that the targets of the Strategy are the ensuring of growth of productivity and employment within SMEs, expansion of markets and the implementation of consistent measures for improvement of the business climate through the toolkits for state support.

Prime Minister Pashinyan attached importance to the organizing of events and campaigns for ensuring public awareness about this Strategy and other strategies and assigned the representatives of the sector to revise the Strategy and submit it to the government for approval, taking into consideration the submitted recommendations.
