YEREVAN. – Prosperous Armenia is following closely the constitutional referendum campaign in the country; in general, it is going according to outlined plan. Iveta Tonoyan, an MP from the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party and spokesperson for the party leader, stated this during a briefing in the National Assembly.
According to her, sometimes, of course, there are eccentric manifestations by people. At the same time, she expressed hope that the authorities would be able to clarify the need for this referendum and focus their attention on presenting the content and substance of the problem to citizens. "In some cases, we notice that there is more of a revolution campaign rather than a referendum," Tonoyan emphasized. "And no serious emphasis is placed yet on the content of the campaign."
The aforesaid constitutional referendum is scheduled for April 5. Authorities have suggested early termination of the powers of seven members of the nine-member Constitutional Court, including of its president, calling them the representatives of the former "regime."
