Within the scope of the projects of Democracy Today NGO, Human Rights Defender of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) Artak Beglaryan today had a meeting with several young people of Artsakh and the Tavush Province of Armenia.

Beglaryan presented the powers of the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh and the main characteristics and directions of his work. He emphasized that even though the Republic of Artsakh has made serious achievements in guaranteeing human rights, to this day, there are problems and difficulties in terms of the system.

He also touched upon the human rights violations and restrictions conditioned by the conflict with Azerbaijan and Artsakh’s isolation from the international community and emphasized that Azerbaijan’s state policy of Armenophobia is a threat to and obstacle for not only the life and safety, but also several rights and freedoms of the people of Artsakh. In response to a question, the Human Rights Defender stated that, in these conditions, the only way to a fair settlement of the conflict and durable peace is the ongoing empowerment of Armenian statehood in terms of security, socio-economic conditions and governance.
