While campaigning in Vayk today, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan gave a speech in which he said that he had talked about the inadmissibility of hate speech and stated that the government shouldn’t respond to even those who use swear words.

“It’s clear that we all get offended and frustrated, but it doesn’t matter. All government officials have many duties and must perform them with honor. Yesterday a group of people who refer to themselves as the guardians of the velvet revolution, visited a person who had said something bad and demanded an apology from him. I don’t accept this,” Pashinyan said.

Pashinyan addressed his supporters and called on them to not give in to provocations. “Let them use swear words as much as they want. Who care? The important thing is whether what they say is true or not. Today there is an atmosphere of confidence in Armenia. Some people’s dreams were crushed these past two days because they hoped the people were disappointed, but this isn’t the case,” Pashinyan said and stated that the people can’t be disappointed since they chose him and his cabinet to be in power and can change the government when they get disappointed.
