The arrest of the owner of Armenia’s Fifth Channel TV station Armen Tavadyan was aimed at disrupting the normal operation of the TV channel, the executive director of the channel Harutyun Harutyunyan told reporters on Monday.
“When Tavadyan was under arrest, the TV channel was going through a difficult time, our journalists found themselves in extremely unpleasant situations,” he said.
Meanwhile, by the decision of the Criminal Court of Appeal of Armenia on March 11, owner of Armenia’s Fifth Channel TV station Armen Tavadyan will be released from prison.
Armen Tavadyan was arrested under the case of the offer that Varuzhan Mkrtchyan (Mkrtchyan presented himself as a supporter of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan) made to a victim under the case of the events of March 1, 2008, to refuse to testify, based on a video prepared by the police.
