YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian held a phone conversation with his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella.
The interlocutors discussed situation in the world and, in particular, in Armenia and Italy, created as a result of the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The presidents shared information about situation and trends in their countries, as well as preventive measures and treatment of infection stressing importance of the need for coordinated and balanced actions by the authorities as well as responsible and disciplined behavior by the citizens.
Sergio Mattarella briefed the Armenian president on epidemiological situation in Italy as well as negative and positive results of prevention of further spread of the infection and minimizing the damage to the country’s economy.
Expressing his support to the President and people of Italy, President Sarkissian said that corresponding steps are also being taken in Armenia to preserve the health of the population and counteract the spread of coronavirus. The President emphasized that in cases of threat of rapid spread of the epidemic, it is necessary to seek joint solutions and to quickly exchange experience and information.
The presidents shared the opinion that, regardless of the events held in each of the states, cooperation between countries and relevant structures in terms of sharing experience and information can also contribute to improving the effectiveness of the fight against the disease. The presidents agreed to continue exchanges.
