YEREVAN. – To date, 52 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Armenia, 32 of which are related to Etchmiadzin, and 11—to the workshop. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this on Facebook live Tuesday.

"Why were the incidents so high yesterday?" he asked and responded: “Because the Ministry of Health has decided to test the quarantined people. Seven of those tests have been positive. At the same time, none of these seven people had symptoms. This information is important in raising our awareness of coronavirus.

The Ministry of Health guarantees that two people out of 52 cases have pneumonia, and the ministry guarantees that they are treated and will be treated."

"Today's strategy is that as long as there is an opportunity, to quarantine people who have had contact with the patients that were diagnosed positive," he added. “The fact is that we actually keep people in hospitals who actually don't need treatment.

Coronavirus is not as terrifying as it is said to be (…). Therefore, we must discuss our strategy."

"We need to raise our level of civic consciousness so much that each of us realize that he can be infected with the coronavirus just as we are infected with the flu 1-2 times a year," the PM noted.

He stated that although a state of emergency has been declared in Armenia, the most effective way is to come to an agreement with one another to act with greater discipline regarding the rules. "If we do so, the coronavirus situation and the tension will drop immediately," Nikol Pashinyan added. "The coronavirus proceeds for us as a common viral illness."
