YEREVAN. – We consider the idea of “tax holiday” bad. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at today's session of the government of Armenia.

"Because they say, 'The government has to do this expense, it has to do that expense, it has to do this expense,' and they say in the same sentence, 'The government has to give a tax vacation to everybody,'" he said. “But if it has to give a tax holiday, how should it carry out those expenses? That's why we say that people need to be ready to pay their usual taxes, payments.

Of course, the crisis cannot be ignored, the government is investing measures in it; that is, we participate in tax payments together with the people.

We have reached an agreement that banks shall work individually with their client circles regarding loans. Yes, we consider that there may be some social crisis phenomena; that’s why we have envisioned a social assistance package of 25 billion drams; but this package must be targeted, that it reaches those who really need it."

Pashinyan also stated that the government will not panic, and will not make emotional and non-calculated decisions.
