YEREVAN.- Armenia’s IT sector registered 0.6% decline in the first quarter of 2011, national statistical service reported.

In 2009-2010 when Armenia’s economy was influenced by the global crisis, IT sector registered growth.

However, statistics shows IT field did not register qualitative growth and is not interesting from the strategic viewpoint.

Thus, in the first quarter of 2011, 54% increase was registered in trade, while manufacturing and services went down by 3.3% and 4.9% respectively. According to statistics, sale of IT products is not the pillar for development of the sector.
