YEREVAN. – It is necessary to achieve an Armenia without [PM] Nikol Pashinyan so that we can come to a legal decision on Kocharyan's case, as the head of the current government will do his best to keep the second president behind bars; that desire can be related to fear, hang-ups, and anything else. Karine Achemyan, a member of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), stated this at a press conference on Friday.

"As for the awaited decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Kocharyan, whatever it may be, Pashinyan will do everything as he wants, and will strike another blow to the country's image. Pashinyan's team has long since canceled all the achievements of the previous authorities," the politician said.

"Under such conditions, the opposition must unite and change the halls of power," Achemyan added, in particular.

According to her, the opinion of the people who think that we have to wait a while until things get better in the country is incomprehensible.

She added that once the current authorities leave power, interesting details will be revealed, including the reports about cigarette smuggling, which, as per the RPA member, Pashinyan did not deny, as well as the smuggling of diamonds, and many other things.

In his turn, Vahan Babayan, Chairman of the Reformist Party, stressed that Nikol Pashinyan does not need reputable people, including Robert Kocharyan and third President Serzh Sargsyan, in the country. "Instead, they reach very good 'common grounds' with their hated oligarchs (…). Moreover, they always find culprits (…), but not themselves, for the failure of their activities,” he added.
