The Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia requested the National Assembly on Monday to obtain consent to initiate criminal prosecution against the head of the Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan as well as to charge and imprison him.

According to the petition, it refers to cases of bribes being distributed by Prosperous Armenia party during the 2017 parliamentary elections for AMD 171 million 940 thousand. A total of 17.194 people were paid AMD 10 thousand.

As reported earlier, Armenian National Security Service investigators on Sunday searched parliamentary opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader, MP, and business tycoon Gagik Tsarukyan's mansion and the enterprises belonging to him.

The NSS issued later statements on three criminal cases involving the party's leader.
