Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Lena Nazaryan posted the following on her Facebook page:
“The subtle art of turning things upside down incites certain people to defend female politicians and members of a political party through chivalry. Those people don’t even notice that they are degrading their role by demanding special attitude towards female figures. Women also have their right to express their protest. As to what motivates them to close streets (personal interest of the patron of their political party or public interest), that is a different story. Of course, police officers should not and HAVE NOT exceeded their powers in the case of women and men and HAVE NOT violated the right to corporal immunity. If you have anything to say about this, speak. If you don’t, there is no need to protect female figures chivalrously and gerrymander the real issues related to women.”
