Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan posted on his Facebook page that the petition to deprive leader of Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan of parliamentary immunity is on the agenda of the regular sessions of the National Assembly set to be launched tomorrow. Mirzoyan also wrote the following:

“I have received from the Prosecutor General of Armenia petitions to give consent to institution of criminal prosecution against and to deprivation of liberty of deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan.

The issues are included in the agenda for the regular sessions to be launched on June 16.”

According to the Constitution of Armenia, the procedure for instituting criminal prosecution against a deputy or depriving him or her of parliamentary immunity includes presentation of the petition, consideration of the petition, exchange of ideas, concluding speech by the deputy and the Prosecutor General, adoption of decision by the National Assembly, signing and promulgation of the decision.
