YEREVAN. – Mashtots Avenue in downtown Yerevan is blocked in several places.

The Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reported from the scene that since the morning, parliamentary opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader, MP, and business tycoon Gagik Tsarukyan's supporters have partially blocked this road with buses.

Police, however, just recently removed these buses from the road.

To note, since the morning, the police have established strict control at the roads leading to Yerevan and the National Assembly (NA), and in some places they have even closed the roads leading to Yerevan so that Tsarukyan's supporters do not reach the NA.

Tsarukyan's supporters have also blocked several motorways with trucks, and closed off a Yerevan section with taxis.

The parliament is currently debating on the prosecutor general’s petition to strip Gagik Tsarukyan of his parliamentary immunity.

The situation in the vicinity of the NA has been tense since the morning, and as of 11am, police apprehended more than 100 protesters from there.

Now Gagik Tsarukyan is being questioned at the National Security Service (NSS), and large police forces have gathered near the NSS building.
