The Yerevan court of general jurisdiction today denied Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s attorneys’ motion for the self-recusal of Judge Robert Papoyan.

This is what Tsarukyan’s attorney Yerem Sargsyan told reporters after the hearing today, adding that the hearing will continue tomorrow at 10:30.

Gagik Tsarukyan is charged with giving electoral bribes, but he doesn’t accept the charge brought against him and says the case is phony.

On June 16, the National Assembly of Armenia approved the two petitions of Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan to strip Gagik Tsarukyan of parliamentary immunity and deprive him of his liberty.
