China says it never detained Indian soldiers after reports from Indian media that the Chinese side had released 10 soldiers.

Indian officials also denied that their soldiers were in custody in China, AP reported.

China's MFA spokesperson Zhao Lijian said the Chinese side had not detained a single Indian soldier.

China accuses India of a recent military clash on its border, which killed 20 people.

Zhao noted that both sides are in contact through diplomatic and military channels. He expressed hope that India will be able to work with China to maintain the long-term development of bilateral relations.
