Deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia Arpi Davoyan has addressed a letter to the Human Rights Defender stating that she has recorded photos that publicly insult the Prime Minister’s wife and children and instill hatred against them on social networks. This is what Spokesperson for the Human Rights Defender Nune Hovsepyan wrote on her Facebook page.

Hovsepyan particularly stated the following: “The deputy informed that she has contacted the Police of Armenia to reveal those who committed the act and bring them to justice and has asked the Human Rights Defender to focus on this issue.

The Human Rights Defender has always stated that the defective phenomenon of targeting a person’s personal and family life and family members is condemnable, regardless of who it concerns.

Once again, we clarify that the Human Rights Defender does not have the power to hold people liable, apply coercive measures and protect officials from citizens or protect them in relations between citizens.

Once again, we urge everyone to read the provisions of the Constitutional Law of Armenia on the Human Rights Defender.”
