Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) President Arayik Haroutyunyan assures that the airspace of Artsakh is completely protected today; he noted this in an interview with Public Television of Armenia.

The Artsakh President stressed that it is not accidental that he considered the year 2019 a turning point in terms of armament for the Artsakh Defense Army. "[During the four-day war] in 2016, we would have dreamed of having that same weaponry," Haroutyunyan said, in particular.

As whether this would have change the number of Artsakh’s casualties during that blitzkrieg, Haroutyunyan responded: "No. If it is about the antiaircraft, then there was no airstrike; but we were much more vulnerable, much more vulnerable. (…). I would like to state with confidence that today not only Stepanakert, but also the whole air[space] of Artsakh is protected. (…). In addition, new antiaircraft weapons have been procured (…). The frontline is safer today, many times more than we have ever had before,” Haroutyunyan added.

He also referred to the matter of increasing the salaries of Artsakh’s army officers and some other social guarantees. "In general, army-building, armaments, living conditions, financial support, and the rest will be the main task of the two governments [Armenia and Artsakh]," Arayik Haroutyunyan stressed.
