Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s attorney Yerem Sargsyan has touched upon the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office to appeal today’s court decision on not arresting Tsarukyan and posted the following:

“At around 4:20 p.m. the court delivered the decision on denying the petition to arrest Gagik Tsarukyan to the sides, at 5:57 p.m. spokesperson of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia Gor Abrahamyan posted the following on his Facebook page: “Since the court has rendered a groundless and unlawful judicial act, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia will definitely appeal to the Criminal Court of Appeal of Armenia.”

Attention!!! The Prosecutor General’s Office will DEFINITELY appeal.

There was no doubt. Arrest remained the only pre-trial measure for investigation bodies and the Prosecutor General’s Office. However, there are other pre-trial measures stated in the Criminal Procedure Code…

There are many other interesting things written in the decision, and perhaps the spokesperson can touch upon those things so that he doesn’t blame the court for the shortcomings of the prosecutors (this has become a habit).

Finally, I recommend that all officials, especially the Prosecutor General’s Office choose their words carefully and never use the word UNLAWFUL when talking about the decisions of courts of the Republic of Armenia, especially decisions that have entered into legal force.

With this, you show that the process is strictly political and personal, not legal, and based on this, you show that you are offended by the Court.”
