The term of arrest of Director of Multi Group Concern LLC Sedrak Arustamyan has been extended for another two months, as reported Arustamyan’s defense attorney Hovik Sukiasyan, who added that he is preparing to appeal the court’s decision on extending the term of arrest.

Touching upon the part of the June 10 press release of the Prosecutor General’s Office stating a part of the testimony given by Arustamyan according to which Arustamyan turned his grandfather’s gold brought from Persia into money, the attorney said the following:

“The purpose of releasing this part was to show that Arustamyan is giving a false testimony. Yes, the gold was the gold that Arustamyan’s grandfather had brought from Persia. The body conducting proceedings suspected that in the 1940s, Soviet troops invaded Persia, and Arustamyan’s grandfather participated in the actions in Persia. We had to photocopy the relevant page from the Armenian Soviet Encyclopedia and present it to the investigator and show that Soviet troops invaded Persia in August 1941. The troops left Persia in January 1942 when there was an alliance of the Soviet Union, Great Britain and Iran. After that, Arustamyan’s grandfather left for Artsakh, participated in the Great Patriotic War and died.”

 Arustamyan is charged with giving a particularly large amount of bribe and assistance in money laundering.
