The Ministry of Health of Armenia has posted on its Facebook page that it is developing a package of laws to centralize management of the healthcare system during a state of emergency.

According to the expected legislative amendments, during the period of state of emergency, the government will be authorized to transfer management of all medical centers of the country to the Ministry of Health, regardless of the subordination and form of ownership of medical institutions.

According to the amendments, the Ministry of Health will be able to manage all licensed medical institutions according to necessity and will have the right to appoint temporary directors who will be directly submissive to the ministry and will complete the instructions of the minister to ensure full provision of required medical services during a state of emergency.

Such a regulation is also provided for by a particular article of the law on the legal regime of martial law.

The legislative package is expected to be submitted to the National Assembly next week.
