YEREVAN. – The Constitutional Court did not issue any statement yesterday, the staff of the Constitutional Court may have issued the statement of the now former three members of the Constitutional Court and of one judge. Judge Vahe Grigoryan of the Constitutional Court (CC) of Armenia on Friday stated this in a conversation with journalists in front of the Constitutional Court, referring to the statement issued Thursday by Constitutional Court president Hrayr Tovmasyan and three members of the Constitutional Court.

"I do not comment on it. I regret that such a comment was disseminated. I believe that this very long statement and other such statements will be the subject of an examination of the legal and political science mind of Armenia. I regret that they can be personified in time," he said.

To the remark that those members of the Constitutional Court intend to appeal what has occurred and even reach the European Court of Human Rights, Grigoryan said. "If they consider that they have violated rights, it is only commendable that they will apply for the restitution of those rights."

Vahe Grigoryan also touched upon the method chosen by the authorities to resolve the issue of the Constitutional Court, noting that this question should be asked to the people who made this or that choice.

To the remark that he is assessed as the Constitutional Court judge to the "liking" of the incumbent halls of power, Grigoryan said: "Ever since I took the oath of office as a judge, I am a judge of the Constitutional Court, regardless of what personal relations I have, had with the bodies of the state authorities, other organizations; the same is maintained now.”

He considered it obvious that the National Assembly (NA) had consciously taken that step. "If there is a problem of democratic legitimacy, no one can stay and continue to hold office in the highest court of instance," Vahe Grigoryan said, noting that all his previous assessments are still valid.

As for the fact that the parliamentary faction of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party has submitted a petition to the Constitutional Court and is disputing the NA decision on the constitutional amendments, Grigoryan said. "If there is such a petition, it means that there will be a procedure, and the [Constitutional Court] judges will have to express their position, and they will have to express it in judicial acts."
