YEREVAN. – We keep all the persons who have contact [with COVID-19] in the center of attention because, in fact, we all have had contact, including you—the journalists. Lilit Makunts, head of the majority My Step" faction, mentioned this in a talk Tuesday with journalists in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, referring to the question why the MPs that have had contact with persons with the coronavirus do not self-isolate, thus violating the anti-epidemic rules.

"According to the doctors' instructions, measures are being taken in consultation with them. (...). All those who are infected are isolated. All those who have had contact [with COVID-19 carriers] and may have symptoms take tests and, if it’s positive, naturally, they will not come [to parliament]. Whoever showed up, then he has no symptoms, or if he did, he took a test and [the result] was negative," Makunts added.

As for Constitutional Court’s “outgoing” President Hrayr Tovmasyan's statement that he is ashamed of what happened in the NA on June 22, the head of My Step said: "I consider Hrayr Tovmasyan's statement emotional."

Lilit Makunts noted that they were not at all concerned that the opposition Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Homeland Parties on Tuesday filed a criminal report with the Prosecutor General's Office accusing the incumbent authorities of usurping power and overthrowing the constitutional order. "Our actions as an MP do not run counter in any way either with the Constitution, or the current legislation, nor are they beyond the powers and functions of an MP. (...). As for the actions of other parties, it is their right to act as they see fit,” Lilit Makunts stressed.
