Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan today held phone talks with Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the Russian State Duma Leonid Kalashnikov, as reported deputy of the Prosperous Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Iveta Tonoyan on her Facebook page.
Tonoyan added that the parties discussed the recent events connected with the military escalation in Armenia’s Tavush Province, the fight against COVID-19, as well as the recent domestic political events in Russia and Armenia.
Tsarukyan told his Russian counterpart about the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and emphasized the inadmissibility of the provocations of the Azerbaijani armed forces. He added that Azerbaijan’s political and military leadership will bear full responsibility for the victims and escalation. In response, Kalashnikov expressed willingness to exert all efforts to weaken the military tension.
The parties stressed the need to settle conflicts exclusively through peaceful means and reduce tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
Tsarukyan expressed willingness to take actions to engage large Russian investments in the Armenian economy, and in his turn, Kalashnikov welcomed the political party leader’s initiative. At the end of the phone talks, Tsarukyan and Kalashnikov discussed the recent domestic political events in Russia and Armenia and expressed willingness to take actions for expansion of parliamentary ties and comprehensive deepening of the relations between the Russian and Armenian peoples.
