Italian Senator Aldo Di Biagio has touched upon the tension created on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and declared the following:

“Violation of the ceasefire regime by the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in the direction of Tavush Province is not the path to peace, and it is not confidence in the OSCE.”

The Italian Senator recalled that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs have stated that in this phase it is necessary to refrain from taking provocative actions in order to work on durable maintenance of the ceasefire regime.

“It is clear that there is a need for diplomatic solutions in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, not an escape from that. This is why it is the moral duty of all European and non-European institutions to avoid clashes and discrepancies, without forgetting the strategic significance of that small piece of land which is a transit for the balances and strategies of oil pipelines and engaged players,” he declared.
