Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan today posted the following on his Facebook page:

“The Office of the Human Rights Defender is sending the second English-language interim report on Azerbaijani troops’ shelling in the direction of Tavush Province of Armenia on July 12-14 to international organizations.

Special emphases are placed with regard to the protection of civilian settlements and the lives, health and properties of civilians.

Like the previous report, this report will also be sent to the UN Human Rights Council through a special procedure. I am particularly stating this because only national human rights organizations with the A international status have the opportunity to send such a report.

The report also shows the data according to which the Azerbaijani side deployed its own artillery batteries near peaceful civilians and in settlements so that the response fire of the Armenian side would be targeted at its own population.

The Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia continues to carry out its activities, maintaining direct contacts with the Movses, Chinari, Aygepar, Berd and several other villages of Tavush Province, as well as with the regional governor’s office of Tavush Province and the Ministry of Defense of Armenia through official communication.”
