As chairman of the Armenia-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Armenia, Edmon Marukyan has addressed Chairman of the Bahrain-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain Ibrahim Khalid Al-Nefaei with the following message:

“I deem it important to inform you about Azerbaijan’s recent military aggression against the northeastern border of Armenia.

As a result of the ongoing warlike rhetoric of the Azerbaijani authorities, on July 12, Azerbaijani soldiers made an attempt to violate Armenia’s border, but were pushed back. The Azerbaijani side continues to escalate the situation through the use of heavy artillery, tanks, unmanned aerial vehicles and other military equipment.

These inacceptable actions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are supported by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and this causes more tension and undermines regional stability and security.

Such actions are the strictest violation of the letter and spirit of the fundamental principles of international law and directly go against the call of the UN Secretary-General for immediate ceasefire in all corners of the globe in order to prevent the large-scale health crisis.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired in the direction of the Armenian Chinari village seven times with 82 mm mortars, after which they released another three projectiles from 120 mm mortars.

We call on our international colleagues to strictly condemn the Azerbaijani armed forces’ provocative actions on Armenia’s state border, as well as the inacceptable rhetoric and actions of the Azerbaijani authorities and their allied country.

We hope the friendly people of Bahrain assesses the situation objectively and responds to our letter.”
