The Armenian government can fully oversee and coordinate the activities of state and private medical institutions in Armenia by law, regardless of the organizational and legal features of those institutions. This is what co-author of the bill on making amendments to the Law of Armenia on Medical Aid and Population Services, deputy of the ruling My Step bloc of the National Assembly of Armenia and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Healthcare and Social Affairs Narek Zeynalyan said in response to deputy of the Bright Armenia opposition faction Ani Samsonyan during a discussion on the bill in parliament today.

Samsonyan particularly asked Zeynalyan if this doesn’t mean that the authorities are planning to expand their powers through legislative amendments so that, say, during a state of emergency, the Armenian government can interfere in the work of private medical institutions by establishing a plan and imposing it on those medical institutions, regardless of their organizational and legal features.
