Further aggravation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border may lead to casualties among the population, destroy important economic ties in the CIS, RIA Novosti reported referring to the Uzbekistani MFA.

Uzbekistan has been chairing the CIS since January 1.

The ministry noted that Tashkent advocates maximum restraint and calls on the parties to engage in political and diplomatic talks to normalize the situation and get out of this situation. 

“We offer our condolences to the families and friends of the deceased,” the statement said.
