The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border may affect security in the entire region, Russian Deputy FM Andrey Rudenko told TASS.

"We are very concerned about what is happening. The [Russian] Foreign Ministry issued a statement and called on the parties to an immediate ceasefire and start talks to prevent a repeat of these incidents," Rudenko noted.

Russia is making every possible effort in contacts with the foreign ministers and chiefs of the General Staffs of both countries to put an end to the incident, he said.

According to Rudenko, it "can affect the security of the entire region."

“At present, intensive contacts are underway with the involvement of, naturally, both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides. We hope the efforts will lead to concrete results," the Deputy FM said.
