I visited the borderline Aygepar, Movses, Berd and Nerkin Karmiraghbyur villages of Tavush Provinces and became familiar with the conditions of educational institutions following the recent events that took place on the border. This is what Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan today told reporters in Ijevan today.

“I wanted to know how schools and universities are preparing ahead of the first day of classes on September 1. You are aware that the ministry interrupted classes in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic, and now we are considering the possibilities of reopening schools, but there is also a tense situation in these villages, and we are interested in the protection of schools from the perspectives of shelters and security. The ministry has given assignments to make sure there are proper shelters in the borderline settlements before September 1 so that children are transferred to shelters in case of need,” the minister said.

The minister also informed that Azerbaijan had damaged the building of a kindergarten in one of the borderline villages and that the ministry has already addressed the UNESCO with a letter regarding this.
