Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Anna Naghdalyan answered questions from Kommersant.

Kommersant: Is it safe to say that the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has been pushed back?

Anna Naghdalyan: Back in 2016, Azerbaijan dealt a strong blow to the peace process, the consequences of which hadn’t been fully overcome. Over the past two years, we specifically made progress — the ceasefire violations indicator dropped, an agreement was reached to prepare the peoples for peace, and the first step for this became the reciprocal visits of journalists.

Kommersant: Can there be any talk about humanitarian exchanges in the future?

Anna Naghdalyan: We had reached an agreement on preparing peoples for peace, but the recent events and the Azerbaijani leadership’s aggressive statements showed that the people of Azerbaijan must prepare the leadership for peace, not the other way around.”
