Lithuania will not stand aside and will seek ways of a peaceful settlement of the conflict, deputy chair of the Armenia-Lithuania parliamentary friendship group Algimantas Dumbrava wrote on his Facebook.

"As a member of the group of parliamentary relations with Armenia, I am watching the events at the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan. I express my sincere condolences to the loved ones," he added.

"In October 2019, as a member of the official delegation of the Seimas, I visited Armenia. I can responsibly declare that the Armenian people did not forget the wonderful gesture of Lithuania when it was one of the first to recognize the independence of Armenia. Throughout the visit of the delegation, we constantly heard words of gratitude and admiration for Lithuania. We recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of our cooperation."

"I believe that even in this intense period for the countries of the South Caucasus, Lithuania will not stand aside and will seek ways of a peaceful settlement of the conflict. This must be achieved primarily by both parties to the conflict at the negotiating table. I understand that this is not easy to do, but it is a prerequisite for a positive outcome. Members of the OSCE Minsk Group, the United States, France, and Russia should help them."

"I must remind you that Armenia and Azerbaijan are participants in the Eastern Partnership, which is very actively supported by the Republic of Lithuania, and I believe that we must all focus and help resolve the protracted conflict," he concluded.
