The Human Rights Defender of Armenia has made a decision to consider the complaints of applicants who weren’t accepted to universities and has addressed a letter to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, as reported the Office of the Human Rights Defender.

The applicants and their parents have expressed concerns about the admission of applicants who had low scores on admission exams and the rejection of applicants who had scored higher than those applicants.

The citizens have offered options to solve the problem. Some citizens said the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport should add spots in universities so that applicants with high scores are able to study at the universities of their preference. Other citizens said the ministry should give applicants the opportunity to enroll in the particular university in the first semester of the 2020-21 Academic Year and continue education on a competitive basis, based on the applicant’s knowledge.
